As a Sixers Fan, it’s Never Been Easier to Root for the Celtics Over the Knicks

I know a lot of people in Philadelphia can’t wrap their head around who to root for in the Knicks/Celtics match-up. Me? It’s never been easier. It’s Celtics all the way. #CUSRISE! I know some people will say neither, but that’s not possible. You have to have a rooting interest in one or the other. That’s just human nature to hate one team more. I had no doubt the minute this series was set that I’d be rooting for the Celtics. I can’t stand the Knicks or their fans. They’re like the Infected in Last of Us just hanging underground, waiting for their time to wreak havoc again. The Celtics already won it last year. At this point the sting has worn off, and, not to mention, they are our daddy. They are so far beyond the Sixers it’s not even worth losing sleep over. Knicks fans, on the other hand, walk around with their chest out like they’ve won something in the last 50 years. Was this after Game 1 in the second round or Game 7 of the NBA Finals?

I HATE KNICKS FANS! You want me to respect these dudes rhyming the dumbest shit possible? Jayson Tatum. Bourne Ultimatum. That meme was from like a decade ago. Could you imagine if I went down there after the Sixers won Game 1 and did this? We’d be ridiculed on the Internet! At least we know we’re second round chokers. The Knicks just haven’t realized it yet, but I feel like the narrative will have to start switching to them since they haven’t made it out of the second round three out of four years. And if they lose in the second round this year it’ll be three straight exits.

Then we’ve got that fraud Spike Lee choosing to attend the Met Gala over watching Game 1. This is the representative of your fanbase?

The guy makes his entire personality the Knicks and he can’t miss one red carpet event? Disgusting. Knicks fans act like these playoff appearances grow on trees. The Knicks haven’t been to the Finals since the last time Spike Lee made a good movie.

Now listen, I’m man enough to admit that was a gutsy comeback by the Knicks in Game 1. Are the Celtics going to miss 45 threes again? Probably not. But Jalen Brunson is an elite NBA player. You could argue he’s in the top 10. But two things can be true, like watching him play basketball makes me want to take a rusty spork and scoop my eyeballs out:

Can’t stand the Nova Knicks either because I know there are some Villanova/Sixers fans secretly lurking in the shadows and rooting for our rivals. Makes me sick. Would be like a Penn State/Eagles fan rooting for the Giants or Cowboys since they have Abdul Carter and Micah Parsons. Celtics in 5. Join me on the right side of history.
