Penn State’s standout tight end Tyler Warren is linking up with Shane Steichen in Indy:

There was a thought he could go 7 or 10 to the Jets or Bears, but New York took Missouri tackle Armand Membou and the Bears surprisingly made Colston Loveland the first tight end off the board.

This is a good fit. The Colts didn’t have a tight end who caught more than 15 passes last season. Warren had 104 catches for 1,233 yards in 2024, though we all know Penn State didn’t have much of a receiving corps. In that sense, he functioned almost like a Travis Kelce-type do-it-all pass catcher who was used in a variety of ways by offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki. He even ran the ball a bunch. The guy is definitely the stereotypical “football player” that the draft analysts talk about.

It’ll be really interesting to see what Steichen can do with him out there. Good pick. Good for Warren.
