Phillies Reinstate Weston Wilson, DFA Kody Clemens
The Phillies have designated Kody Clemens for assignment to make room for Weston Wilson on the 26-man roster, the team announced Wednesday morning:
Prior to today’s game against the New York Mets, the Phillies returned INF/OF Weston Wilson from his rehab assignment with Lehigh Valley (AAA) and reinstated him from the 10-day IL. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, INF/OF Kody Clemens was designated for assignment.

Wilson was the frontrunner to claim the last spot on the Phillies bench in spring training, but an oblique strain placed him on the injured list just a month before Opening Day. He finished his rehab assignment with the Iron Pigs with just six hits in 38 at-bats.
Clemens, who was acquired in the 2023 offseason, was DFA’d to make room. Clemens logged just seven plate appearances this year and didn’t record a hit.
Sunday’s game was really the telling factor for me in who the Phillies prioritize at this moment in time. I thought Rob Thomson going to Cal Stevenson late was extremely telling about Clemens’ future. Now, Clemens will hit waivers.
The Phillies finally have a right-handed bat on their bench that isn’t Edmundo Sosa. With David Peterson on the mound Wednesday for New York, Edmundo Sosa and Weston Wilson are both in the lineup in today’s series finale.
