Doesn’t it feel like yesterday we were arguing if we should trade or build around MCW? Man did we not know how good we had it. When there were no expectations and we got to watch guys like JaKarr Sampson and Hollis Thompson develop. Now 11 years later we’re still winning 20 games, but are miserable watching Lonnie Walker and Jalen Hood-Schifino. At least we now find ourselves with a puncher’s chance to get a generational player. Also, Kawhi Leonard just scored 39 points on Monday in the playoffs and his knee guy did Joel Embiid’s surgery. We might actually be back if a couple things swing our way.
If you want to go to MCW’s debut it’ll be in New York and they’re calling it the Broad Street Brawl, via Andreas Hale at ESPN.com:
Michael Carter-Williams, the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year, will make his amateur boxing debut May 29 in New York.
Carter-Williams, 33, will face 36-year-old Sam Khativ in a three-round heavyweight bout at the Leman Ballroom. The event, billed as the Broad Street Brawl, will raise funds for Bigvision Community, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young adults in recovery from substance abuse.
Somehow the most epic debut in Sixers history was 11 years ago. After this game I thought The Process was never going to begin and we were going to win the whole damn thing:
