Phillies Are +120 to Win Four-Game Series With Giants
There’s no better way to cure the blues of a tough road trip than to play seven games at home. Right? Well, at least on paper, the Phillies should be in good shape, starting with the four-game series against the San Francisco Giants. The Phils are a +120 favorite on the series line at DraftKings Sportsbook. A series tie is +170 and the Giants are +300. San Francisco is 11-4 overall, but it is 3-3 in its last six games, a sign that the hot start might have been just that.
The Phils will send Taijuan Walker, Jesus Luzardo, Aaron Nola and Cristopher Sanchez to the mound in that order. Walker faces Landon Roupp in Monday’s opener. The Giants won’t throw ace Logan Webb in south Philadelphia, but they will send Justin Verlander and Robbie Ray to the mound on Tuesday and Wednesday On paper, Verlander and Ray may seem like tough foes, but they are vulnerable. Verlander comes in with a 6.92 ERA and Ray walked as many batters as he’s struck out in his last two starts. Wednesday’s matchup between Ray and Nola might feature a few homers. Five players on the two rosters have home runs in their careers against those two pitchers. Ray can be home run prone at times and Nola, as we know, can have some up-and-down innings.
Keep this in mind for Wednesday: Bryce Harper has a .455 batting average with a home run against Ray. Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm each have strong numbers too, but Harper’s stand out the most. One thing to note for the entire series: The Giants have struck out the fifth-most times on the road and they have the ninth-most strikeouts in all of MLB. Not sure if you can apply that to Walker on Monday, but keep that fact in mind for Luzardo, Nola and Sanchez.
As for Monday’s game, Walker’s strikeout prop is over/under 3.5. Roupp’s isn’t high either at 4.5. There should be plenty of contact made, so I would keep it simple with the guys that have been hot over the last seven days. There may be PA betting promos to utilize as Nick Castellanos has eight hits in that span, while Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner have six each. Righties have hit Roupp better in his brief MLB career, so I would use Castellanos or Turner for the DraftKings No Sweat Home Run bet. FanDuel and bet365 each have a profit boost available as well, which you can use on Castellanos or Turner to have 2+ total bases, or to homer.
