Dave McCormick's Social Media Person Needs to Clean it Up
Dave McCormick is running for Bob Casey’s Senate seat and was at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday afternoon:
Fun tailgate in Philly today 🏈
Excited to watch the Steelers throttle the Raiders! pic.twitter.com/G6RWoSVWCM

This tweet got ratio’d because it looks like he’s saying that the Steelers play in Philadelphia. And by “he,” I mean whomever is running the social media account. There’s a break between the two sentences to MAYBE suggest that they are separate thoughts, but the way it reads straight through makes it look like he’s tailgating the Yinzers/Raiders game in Philly. You have to add some words in there, like, “Fun tailgate in Philly today! Eagles/Browns at 1 p.m., then excited to watch the Steelers throttle the Raiders at 4!”
Something like that. It clears up any ambiguity, because if you have to explain it, then you’ve already lost, and when you’re already fighting the accusation that you’re a guy from Connecticut, even the slightest of slip ups in the bluest part of the Commonwealth is gonna be damaging. Gotta be careful with this stuff, because Dr. Oz was hammered for saying that he was “rooting for my Eagles” during the 2022 Senate debate. Then John Fetterman took out a billboard on I-95 accusing Oz of being a Cowboys fan. He weaponized that Dallas fandom against the Dr.
disclaimer: this is not a political post. if Casey’s social media person gets ratio’d posting about sports, we’ll blog that too. plus, half of you think we’re MAGA and the other half think we’re far left libs, so people are just gonna slap whatever label on you. it doesn’t matter
