Nic Batum Going Back to the Clippers is the Definition of Happy Wife, Happy Life
Remember when Nic Batum got traded to the Sixers and his wife immediately took a shot at the Clippers? She shared this article from Jrue Holiday’s wife talking about how it’s hard on families to be traded, with a gif of 2Pac saying “Trust Nobody” –

I remember. And apparently Batum does too because he signed with the Clips for two years. The definition of happy wife, happy life.
To help jog your memory, Batum missed five of the first 10 games with the Sixers due to personal reasons. There was a rumor he’d retire and it was partly because Batum’s wife didn’t want to move to Philly. Batum said his wife had health concerns a couple weeks before the trade and that it was always the plan to take some time off, via Sam DiGiovanni at ClutchPoints.com:
After the Sixers’ big win against the Brooklyn Nets in his return to the starting lineup following his second absence, Batum said that his wife, Lily, “has been through some health issues the last couple weeks before the trade.” The Sixers forward said that he planned to pause his season before the Los Angeles Clippers traded him to the Sixers in the blockbuster that included James Harden.
“That was always the plan, so it’s not something very fun to go through,” Batum said, “but we have to go through it as a family, and that’s why I’m talking about it right now because I know that it’s private stuff — I can’t really, like, say what it is — but I had to be there and it’s been going on for a couple weeks now. But, hey, sometimes you have to do what you gotta do for your family. It should be okay now. She’s gonna be fine and we’ll be fine.”
Speculate away. I will not because I don’t want to catch a stray from Mrs. Batum, who stays ready on Twitter:

I’ll just say there’s a reason why you don’t find a lot of guys signing back with teams less than a year after a messy split. But again happy wife, happy life. That’s some free advice for all the youngsters out there. Doesn’t matter if you’re a millionaire athlete or a regular guy. Everyone knows you’re better off keeping the ol’ ball and chain smiling at the end of the day. That’s why you sign up for 70 degrees in California in the winter instead of gray and snowy Philadelphia.
