Rumor: the Phillies Will Have Three Dollar Dog Nights This Year, Two in April
I’m working overtime trying to figure out the Dollar Dog Night dates. Working my sources like mules! There are deep state secrets that are under less security than the DDN dates. Apparently the Phanatic is standing guard 24/7 outside the room where the DDN dates are being kept, holding a hot dog gun and instructions to shoot to kill anyone on site who tries to infiltrate. Luckily I’ve got spies everywhere. According to secret sources, there will be three DDNs this year, with two dates already named:
I’m hearing a rumor that there will be three Dollar Dog Nights this year. So far my sources are saying April 2nd vs the Reds and April 16th vs the Rockies. A third night is TBD.

I don’t know if having them early in the season has always been the Phillies’ process, but it has been recently. They love doing them early in the season on Tuesdays when the college kids are still in the city. They had all three completed by May 11th last year. Sometimes they’ll bookend one in early September when the college kids are back in school. It’ll be interesting to see how they’ll approach the third date. They’re probably waiting to see how the first two go before releasing information about that one.
What’s apparently the most important decision, and a hold up, is a decision on the amount of dogs per transaction this year. We’re also hearing there will be severe consequences for people caught throwing dogs in the stadium. Sounds like I would’ve gotten the chair a couple years ago:

I’ll be honest, I LOVE the transaction rule. Sorry. Maybe it’s my old age, but I was once that guy buying 10 at a time. I was trying to set records. Doing it for a cause (sometimes throwing them out to fans like a young Dogginhood). The Phillies were still taking cash back then, so transactions were quicker. The biggest gripe about DDN is the lines. The lines last year were terrible and with the pitch clock some fans weren’t getting to their seats until the 4th inning:

Here’s the line 20 minutes BEFORE a game:

We cut down lines, we get things under control, and we’ll be humming. RELEASE THE DOGS!

That should be me.
