Flyers Apparently on the Verge of Trading Everyone
Danny Briere isn’t messing around.
For the better part of 24 hours now, there have been trade rumors involving multiple players:
Nothing confirmed yet, but sources tell @TheAthletic that the Blues and Flyers are working to finalize a trade for center Kevin Hayes. Appears to be several elements involved, which takes time, but could be done today. #stlblues

In addition to this currently-delayed Philadelphia trade with St. Louis, there is word the Flyers are also working on a Tony DeAngelo trade that would return him to Carolina. That one might also wait until tomorrow.

There are a lot of moving parts.
Anthony noted that Travis Sanheim had been discussed in the STL deal as well. He mentioned this:
“The complication surrounds a Blues player, believed to be Torrey Krug, not willing to waive his NTC to come to the Flyers. However, Briere is working to see if he can flip Krug to a team for whom he would waive his NTC. The Flyers would get one of the Blues late first rounders…”
And then early Sunday morning, this from Pierre Lebrun:
The proposed Tony DeAngelo trade to Carolina from Philadelphia hit a snag late last night according to sources. It needs to get worked put or else that deal now doesn’t happen.

Sounds like the main framework for these deals in place, but they’ve got to hammer out the finishing touches and/or, in the case of St. Louis, get a third team involved because of the Krug snafu.
All we can really do is hurry up and wait, but from a general standpoint, if Briere is able to move Hayes, TDA, and perhaps Sanheim or even more, that’s an incredible continuation of the rebuild. Yeah, they will have to retain salary to facilitate these deals, but that was understood, and you’re clearing guys from the roster who don’t have a future here while carving out playing time for young guys who do have a future. If Danny B pulls off anything resembling what he did with Ivan Provorov, then this will be a huge win for the Flyers.
Well? We’re waiting.
