Young Beezer Gets a Six-Year Contract Extension

Congratulations are in order for Joel Farabee, aka the “Young Beezer,” because he just got himself a six-year contract extension.
From the Flyers:
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Joel Farabee to a six-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $5.0M, according to President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Chuck Fletcher.
The contract will go into effect beginning with the 2022-23 season.
Farabee is 21 years old and would have become a restricted free agent following this season. He scored 20 goals last year and led the team in that department, while chipping in 18 assists to finish with 38 points in 55 games.
The Flyers really like Farabee. Obviously. They had pre-empted a couple of UFA years already, and $5 million is pretty good value if he continues to evolve as a player. You just hope the cap increases moving forward, instead of having to navigate the flatness of this past season, which forced GMs to work some tight margins. If the new TV money does what we hope it does, then they’re in good shape. But if it doesn’t, then things get a little dicey.
