The only bright spot in this Sixers season filled with dark moment after dark moment is Quentin Grimes. Monday night he had 46 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists against the team with the NBA’s fourth-best defensive rating:

The Rockets were double face guarding him at the end of the game like he was prime MJ. His last five games he’s had 46, 28, 29, 35, and 25. He had 44 against the Warriors a couple weeks ago. He is, for all intents and purposes, a certified GUY! People are starting to whisper that it’s the worst trade the Mavs made all season.

The Sixers can’t let him go. Now, this inevitably ends with him playing the Sixers out of a top-5 lottery spot and then leaving in free agency, but the Sixers can’t let him go. The thought of a healthy Joel Embiid (lol), Tyrese Maxey, and whatever happens with Paul George paired with Grimes next season could be some small sliver of optimism that Sixers fans can hold on to. Mix that in with the Sixers keeping their lottery pick and we could be talking about something. Probably not, but it’s the hope that kills you!

Mavericks fans are about to run Nico Harrison out of Dallas:

Just, you know, maybe keep him away from Joel Embiid this offseason.

The last thing we need is his for him to enable Embiid’s Shirley Temple habits, via Jared Weiss at The Athletic (with ads):

Grimes took issue with the way Dončić has been portrayed on his way out the door from Dallas. Grimes dismissed the team’s concerns about Dončić’s conditioning and work habits, saying his former teammate was always in the gym whenever he would show up for his late-night shooting sessions or practice-day weightlifting.

“It’s just a narrative around him. Once a narrative gets thrown out there, everybody just runs with it,” Grimes said. “Whatever they’re saying, if he’s 270 (pounds) and he gets to the finals, let him be 270 then. It’s crazy.”
