Action News Has a Jamie Apody Replacement
PA native Jason Dumas says he’s starting at Action News in November as a sports anchor and reporter:
I know burying the lede is frowned upon in our business but forgive me for my little rant just this one time!
Worked a lifetime for this moment but to be honest, the work has just begun. Funny how that works.#ThereGoesThatNewsVan 👀 pic.twitter.com/3TXu2h8xAr

Sixers fans will recognize the name because Dumas dabbled in news breaking a few years ago. He had a solid framework of the Ben Simmons trade and other tidbits here and there, mixed in with some dubious Rich Paul and Klutch-adjacent stuff involving Tyrese Maxey. He hasn’t reported much on Philly sports in recent years, and has been working in the Bay Area since 2018 as KRON’s sports director. As he states in the message above, the TV business is tough and you don’t always get the opportunity to work in your home market, which is especially true in sports, since those jobs so are so few to begin with. So congratulations to the man for landing that gig. The Action News sports staff from here looks like Ducis Rodgers, Gabriella Galati, and now Dumas. He’s lined up to start about a full year following Jamie Apody’s last appearance in November of 2023.
