The Sean Desai era has come to an end:

Matt Patricia next, hopefully.

Are we sure Desai was a bad coordinator? They stunk in the final games before he was demoted, but they didn’t get any better with Patricia. The best defensive moments this season came with Desai in charge, like the second-half shutout in Kansas City (with a few Chiefs drops) and the quality home performance against Miami. The defense was alright in Seattle for Patricia’s first game, final drive notwithstanding, then got carved up by the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This all reeks. Questions abound. You’ve got the theory that Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie wanted Patricia, the ill-fated Dennard Wilson snub, and the Jonathan Gannon/Vic Fangio timing thing. And it’s pretty obvious some of the dudes on that unit were going through the motions at various points.
