
Ryne Sandberg has Metastatic Prostate Cancer

If a cancer is “metastatic,” that means it’s spread from its origin to other parts of the body. In this instance, the cancer is no longer localized to the prostate, so that’s not great. Of course, every diagnosis is unique, and Sandberg’s outlook could be better or could be worse depending on what doctors have found, but it’s up to him and the family to decide how much to reveal.
Sandberg was the Phillies’ manager from 2013 to 2015. He debuted with the Phillies in 1981 but was traded and went on to become a 10x All Star and Hall of Famer for the Chicago Cubs. He’s 64 years old.
