This play right here sums up everything that’s wrong with the Eagles:

Words cannot express how much I loathe everything about this sequence.

The Eagles had possession with the game tied in the fourth quarter. Jordan Mailata got flagged for holding. Then they couldn’t get the right personnel on the field and proceeded to run Jalen Hurts twice before throwing a perimeter screen for Kenneth Gainwell on 3rd and 19. DeVonta Smith, a downfield passing threat and 1,000-yard receiver, is 170 pounds and blocking on the play. He gets rolled up and injured.

Great job! Awesome job by the coaching staff! Huzzah!

I’m only half-joking when I say that there’s nothing on this Earth that I despise more than the bubble screen. It shouldn’t even be in the playbook. Not to Gainwell, not to Swift, not to Goedert, and not to any of the receivers. Whenever the Eagles throw a bubble screen, I am consumed with burning misanthropy and rage. God is dead.
