The Eagles were pitiful on Sunday night, so there’s no point in doing a multi-clip game film rehash.

Instead, I’ll just give you a different angle of a key play, which was the Miles Sanders run on 3rd and 4 during the Birds’ fourth drive. It was a big deal at the time, since the defense had just held after the offense scored to cut the lead to 14-7.

That drive began with two runs for Jordan Howard, then Sanders was in the game for an inside zone run that only went for three yards, leading to a punt.

Said Doug Pederson postgame:

“Miles just missed the hole, and that happens with young guys.”

Here’s the play, first the wide-angle shot and then the direct camera looking down from the opposite side of the field:

The hole was there, he just bounced it outside instead.

Offensive coordinator Mike Groh confirmed on Tuesday that the offensive line did their job on the play:

Q. On that third and four, the run with RB Miles Sanders, was that blocked correctly? Was the hole where you thought it would be? (Dave Zangaro)

MIKE GROH: Yes. Yeah. It was blocked correctly, yes.

Here’s a still shot showing the hole at the time when Sanders bounced it outside instead:

It’s there. Either he doesn’t see it or thinks he can take this carry outside for more yards.

That was pretty much it, after that drive. Dallas added a touchdown and field goal on their next two drives, making it 24-7 and essentially killing off the game.
