Adam Schefter says it’s a 6th round draft pick that can become a 5th round pick.
That’s highway robbery for a 24 year old who ran for more than 900 yards and 9 touchdowns last season and put up 1,000 yard rushing seasons in his first two NFL years. The Bears have Tarik Cohen and signed Mike Davis in free agency, so Howard was expendable.
You know running back was the biggest need for the Eagles heading into the draft, at least on the offensive side of the ball. Howard is 6’1″, 225 pounds, a 1st and 2nd down back who will be their primary guy this season. Wendell Smallwood, Josh Adams, and Corey Clement will compete for a backup role and the Eagles can still draft a young guy in the later rounds next month.
