A great welterweight bout took place Tuesday as we had Kyle Neubeck fighting out of the PHLY corner and Howard Eskin in the WIP corner. It all started with this tweet:

A strong power punch landed by Neubeck. Caught Eskin off guard. He’s wobbling back to his corner as he’s saved by the bell. How will he respond in the next round? Will the cutman be able to stop the bleeding over the eyebrow?

Annnnnnnnnnd Howard’s dead:

Remind me to never get on Kyle Neubeck’s bad side.

I didn’t think Neubeck had this in him. Sure he’s good for one of these every month or so on Twitter, but it’s typically directed towards some nobody. This time he did his best Drake impression and went Back 2 Back on his show before Howard was even able to respond.

The trainers are finally able to lift Eskin’s lifeless body off the mat. In a daze, slightly concussed, and bleeding from all orifices he starts rambling to Larry Merchant in the postgame interview:

Kyle Neubeck flashes him the belt and tucks the old dog into his bed while maybe putting the final scoop of dirt on his career:

Never a dull moment in Philly media. The support, at least on social media, has been all in favor of Neubeck. That says a lot about what people think of Eskin. I’m sure there are a lot of personalities past and present that have worked with Howard who were hootin’ and hollerin’ watching that clip. But I can kind of see both sides on this.

Is everything Neubeck said true? Absolutely. Kinkead has been pounding the table about it for years how Howard will show up to a press conference ask a question, grandstand, try his best to steal some attention, and then leave before the first pitch or halftime of the Sixers game. He’ll be in bed before the game is over. Is it right? Probably not. He’s a hack. He’s a fraud. But the dude is also 72 years old. He doesn’t write and hosts a show for like one hour on the weekends. WIP will give him the occasional hit on their shows, but for the most part it’s kind of sad when you really think about it. These press conferences or this grandstanding is all he has. It’s his only opportunity for relevancy at this point in his life.

Now on the other hand, there has to be something that’s gone on behind the scenes between these two to fire Neubeck up this much. There’s no chance he’s mad just because Eskin criticized Joel Embiid. Could you imagine Bob or Ant shitting down Eskin’s throat because he was critical of Bryce Harper? No. So I’d love to know what went on behind the scenes for more context. Maybe when Neubeck was younger and couldn’t scrape two nickels together as a young guy grinding in local journalism it rubbed him the wrong way that Howard would be allowed to come in and do his charade, get in his nice car, and go home to his nice comfortable house. Who knows. Maybe there’s a little bit of jealousy there and I don’t blame Kyle for feeling that way at the time. You could argue it’s on these teams that keep giving the dinosaur a credential.

Anyway at least we’ll always have, “He’ll suck the biggest fucking dick in the room!”

I also can’t express enough how great this is for CB. More, more, more!

P.S. Someone put it over the Ether beat lol:
